Welcome!

The Joy of Music Program (JOMP - pronounced "jump") was started with the goal of providing a solid musical foundation to preschoolers in music and movement classes and building a developmentally based curriculum that meets the needs of students as they grow. This philosophy is still at the heart of all our educational planning. After twenty-two years, it is very satisfying to see the fruits of this approach flowering as we touch more and more lives through music. Many students have experienced the full benefit of the school's programs from their elementary through their high school years, and some since preschool.

Learning to play an instrument is a process of continual self-discovery and of finding and trusting your own voice by building the skills that will enable you to express yourself through music. Our outstanding and carefully chosen faculty are dedicated to helping students of all ages and levels of proficiency establish good practice strategies and playing habits, and develop the self-discipline required to gain confidence and accomplish goals. As musicians who are devoted to the art of teaching, they have the ability to pass along their love and knowledge of music to each student. A testament to their work is the large number of students who continue their music after JOMP as participants in college music programs across the country and as an important part of their personal lives. Students who choose to major in music are being accepted at some of the top music schools in the nation. We encourage you to pursue your own musical journey at JOMP, whatever your personal goals may be.
