World Drumming

Students will experience the power of the drum to unite people and uplift the spirit.  Using a variety of Djembe drums and rhythm instruments, each group will create a community through sound as they develop their inner sense of rhythm, concentration and ensemble.  Learning to play two or more rhythms simultaneously helps students extend their attention span, deepen their concentration, and improve their eye-hand coordination. World Drumming, which draws on African, Latin and Asian rhythms, is an art form in itself, as well as a terrific complement for instrumental study.
