Piano, JOMPStart

Nga I (Victoria) Chan is a pianist and music educator with a Master’s degree in Music Education from Berklee College of Music. She began her musical journey at the age of three and achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in piano performance during elementary school. Victoria pursued her undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom, where she studied under German pianist Jakob Fichert, further honing her technical skills and musical interpretation.

Upon relocating to the United States, she continued her advanced piano studies with Max Levinson, Chair of the Piano Department at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Under his mentorship, Victoria expanded her repertoire and deepened her understanding of collaborative performance. She has served as an accompanist for choirs since high school and has extensive experience collaborating with vocalists and string ensembles.

Victoria is certified in Kodály Level I, having completed her training at Indiana University’s Kodály Summer Institute. She integrates Kodály and Orff methodologies into her teaching, creating joyful and structured learning environments for students of all ages. Her commitment to music education led her to present her research at the Suncoast Music Education Conference in Florida.

Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Victoria is dedicated to culturally responsive teaching and is passionate about helping students discover their unique musical voices. She is excited to contribute to JOMP through both private instruction and JOMPStart programs.
